Finding Root Problems and Solutions Problems Indonesian Food
Food Issues
Indonesia is one country that has the potential to promote agriculture and farm towards better circumstances. Based on data from the Ministry of Agriculture, wetland Indonesia reached 7.6 million ha. This potential is also supported by the wealth of commodities and land fertility is excellent. In 2004, this gaung also gained momentum with the statement that the Indonesian government have reached self-sufficiency in rice. In addition the government also targets food self-sufficiency that if refers pada 2014 FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) is termed as food security (food security).
Is it sufficient that the government do?

In fact the root causes of food does not lie in the amount of agricultural productivity. If we look at the three existing sections on the agricultural sector, namely the production, distribution, and consumption. So we will be exposed to the more simple problem of the suitability of food prices.

To this day there is a high enough price difference between the market price of agricultural production in society (consumption), particularly in rice commodities. Purchase price of rice from farmers this time between Rp2300-Rp2400/kg (equivalent to Rp.1850/kg production costs) while the sale price ranges Rp4800-Rp5500/kg community. From these data we can see that the distribution is controlled by the National Logistics Board and the middlemen make a profit almost equal to the cost of production (production cost) per kg of rice.
